Theater Camp

All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts,

-Shakespeare

Can you tell creative stories?

Do you dream of adventure?

Have you been in a play?

Have you ever wanted to write a script?

Did you want to build a theater set?

Drama week is meant to challenge to campers and stretch their ability to communicate, collaborate and tell creative stories. We are social creatures who interact with each other everyday. These interactions are dramatic, tragic, comedic, and a range in between. Campers will work together in small collaborative teams to bring stories to life. Campers will work in small groups to practice drama skills through interactive games and challenges with the aim for a demonstration of a drama story by the end of the week.

What campers will do

Drama comes for the greek word for action. This week campers will bring storytelling to life! Expect to be active this week stretching both your mind and your body

  • Instructors will lead campers through different drama techniques and practices to learn new communication skills

  • Work collaboratively to identify story, plot and character dynamics to bring to life

  • Camper will primarily focus their efforts on completing a drama piece they present to camp

  • Campers will explore different forms of artistic and dramatic expression

No drama experience previously needed for this program. We will be guiding and supporting all learners at their level.

Science Lab:
Can you build the tallest tower or the most unsinkable boat? Science Lab is all about using basic science concepts to build a project to achieve the task at hand.

Leadership InitiativesWhat's the best way to build leadership skills? Practice! We spend this week playing group games and doing leadership initiatives. The activities vary to test different skills and there are enough so that every camper gets a chance to perform each type of role.

Change the World CampGroups of 12-14 students go through a Design Thinking Process to create their own community service project. Then each groups gets a $400 budget and executes their project by the end of the week!

Experts and Their PassionsIt can be captivating to watch an expert share a skill that he or she has honed over years or decades. We bring in one such expert each day and ask them to share their passion with us at camp.

Charlotte Explorer WeekCome explore Charlotte with us! This is a special program for the last week of the summer. Each day we take a different field trip to explore the Queen City. Come see a baseball game, visit a museum, and have a week's worth of adventures around town.
